Job Overview
The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) has two open positions for instructors of the Canadian Nurse Educator Institute’s Clinical Instructor Certificate Program. The instructors, in collaboration with the current instructors, will co-facilitate live sessions, grade assignments and ensure the module content remains current and evidence informed. The instructor will work remotely as the program is delivered online. This is a paid contract from January 1-December 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal. The time commitment is approximately 20-30 hours per course offering, with an increase in time when significant updates are required. The course is 7-weeks long and includes three live sessions. Courses are offered quarterly.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in planning discussions as needed with CASN
- Update module assignment(s) and exams with other instructors
- Participate in and monitor the module discussion forum
- Provide individualized feedback on assignments.
- Correspond with module participants, including during asynchronous weeks
- Support the delivery of three one-hour synchronous sessions by Zoom (typically held in the evening from 7-8pm Eastern Time)
Required Qualifications
- Current registration in Canada as a registered nurse
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (education, nursing, etc.)
- Holds current certification as a Canadian Certified Clinical Instructor (CCCI)
- Currently employed as a faculty member or instructor at a Canadian school of nursing
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical instructor experience
- Excellence in teaching practice supported by evidence (e.g. recent student or peer evaluations)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in both official languages (English and French) an asset
