CASN relies on its dedicated member volunteers to drive progress in academic nursing and work towards transforming health care, improving health, and promoting health equity.
There are numerous ways for members to contribute to CASN’s initiatives, from short-term tasks like reviewing awards and abstracts to more long-term opportunities. We encourage you to enhance your involvement with CASN and consider volunteering today!
Committees: Standing Committees support the ongoing strategic work of the Association. Appointments are made for up to 2 years, and committees generally meet during the annual CASN Council meeting and biennial CASN Conference and have regular virtual meetings.
Task Forces: The Board of Directors may establish task forces to focus on priority projects and initiatives. Appointments are time-limited, and task forces hold regular virtual meetings.
Advisory Groups: Advisory Groups may be established based on the priorities of CASN. Appointments are typically 1 to 2 years, and the groups meet virtually.
Abstract and Awards Reviewers: Abstract and Awards Reviewers are a one-time volunteer opportunity to review a specific conference’s abstract submissions or award application submissions. The time commitment is generally 2 to 4 hours to review and evaluate the submissions.
Board of Directors: The Board of Directors is the governing body for the Association. Selected through an annual election process, CASN’s 17-member Board includes 14 school representatives, one public representative, and the CASN President and Executive Director. The Call for Nominations for the Board is issued each spring.
Awards and Nominations Committee: This elected committee assesses member interest in serving on the Board of Directors and the Awards and Nominations Committee and prepares the slate of candidates for the annual election. The Committee meets regularly via virtual meetings.
