Mandate:
Examine the current issues and challenges faced by francophone and bilingual schools of nursing and identify strategies to address them.
Statement of Inclusivity
We recognize the value of diverse perspectives and experiences in advancing CASN’s mission and are committed to creating an inclusive culture of belonging. Our committee aims to include representatives with relevant experience who are from different academic institutions across Canada with a diversity of lived and scholarly experiences, across a diversity of gender identities, gender expressions, sexual orientations, Indigenous identities, racialized identities, disabilities and/or neurodivergences.
Committee responsibilities:
- Examine the current critical issue in Quebec regarding raising the entry standard for the nursing profession.
- Identify strategies to increase continuing education/professional development activities offered in French by CASN (courses, conferences, webinars, forums).
- Establish national and international collaborative relationships to promote French-language dissemination activities, including national and international publications.
- Promote French-language dissemination activities related to nursing education, particularly national and international publications in French in CASN’s QANE-AFI journal.
- Identify strategies to enhance the visibility of work conducted in French in the field of nursing education.
- Optimize the quality of French in CASN communications.
- Address issues related to nursing education in French in Canada.
- Strengthen CASN’s visibility and collaboration with francophone organizations at provincial, national, and international levels.
Representatives needed:
To ensure a comprehensive, pan-Canadian perspective, CASN is seeking contributions from educators, professors, or administrators affiliated with member schools that offer francophone and/or bilingual nursing programs or operating in a minority-language setting across all regions of Canada.
Terms of office:
This committee has a term of 2 years, with the potential for renewal up to two years.
Time commitment:
Committee members are asked to participate in approximately three 1-hour virtual meetings per year, with additional time required to review documents prior to meetings.

Selection Process
Selection of members to the committee will be undertaken by the Executive Director in partnership with CASN staff. The selection process will seek to ensure subject matter expertise in advancing francophone nursing education aligned with the committee’s responsibilities, and representation goals. Only those selected will be contacted and invited to join the committee.
