The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) mourns the passing of Dr. Ellen Elizabeth Rukholm, PhD, RN. Dr. Rukholm was a distinguished leader in nursing education who served as an Executive Director of CASN (2007-2009), as well as a president of its board of directors (2004-2006). She began her nursing career at the Vancouver General Hospital and later became a professor at the Laurentian University School of Nursing, where she later served as the Director of the School. Her dedication to advancing nursing education has left a lasting impact on the field. Dr. Rukholm’s legacy continues through the Dr. Ellen Rukholm Memorial Fellowship Award, which was established to support nursing students at Laurentian University. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
