The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) is currently seeking nominations for several voluntary positions on its CASN Accreditation Bureaus (CABs). These bureaus play a vital role in shaping the future of nursing education by making decisions on the accreditation status of nursing programs across Canada and internationally.

Available Positions
Baccalaureate Nursing – CAB (BScN-CAB)
- Community/Consumer Representative
- A passionate advocate for high-quality nursing education. Must be nominated by the School Head.
- Academic Representative
- A non-nurse academic with a strong scholarship background and experience in a health profession with its own accreditation process.
International – CAB (ICAB)
- Faculty Representatives (3 positions)
- Full-time faculty at internationally CASN-accredited schools with 5+ years of experience.
- One should be fluent in Spanish and English
- One should be fluent in French and English
- Past CAB Member
- A former faculty representative who has completed a full term on the CAB.
- Academic Representative
- A non-nurse academic with a strong scholarship background and accreditation experience in another health profession.
- Community Representative
- An individual actively engaged in international work and deeply committed to the quality of nursing education. This may include professionals from fields such as law, government, or program evaluation—those who bring a valuable external perspective to the accreditation process.
- Consumer Representative
- An individual involved in international work with a strong interest in nursing education.
- Service Agency Representative
- Nominated by an internationally accredited school. A registered nurse or employer of nurses with 5+ years of leadership experience and a strong professional reputation.
- Regulatory Body Representative
- A representative from a regulatory body with expertise in international nursing regulation.
- Full-time faculty at internationally CASN-accredited schools with 5+ years of experience.
Practical Nurse – CAB (PN-CAB)
- Service Agency Representative
- A senior registered practical nurse (RPN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) professional with 5+ years of experience and leadership potential.
Nurse Practitioner – CAB (NP-CAB)
- Faculty Representative & Bilingual Faculty Representative (4 positions)
- Full-time faculty with at least 5 years of experience.
- Community Representative
- A passionate advocate for high-quality NP nursing education.
- Academic Representative
- A non-nurse academic with a strong scholarship background and experience in a health profession with its own accreditation process.
- Regulatory Body Representative
- A senior staff member from a regulatory body involved in NP program approval.
Internationally Educated Nurse – CAB (IEN-CAB)
- Faculty Representative
- Full-time faculty with at least 5 years of experience
- Service Agency Representative
- A senior IEN professional with 5+ years of experience and leadership potential.
- Student/Graduate Representative
- A current student or graduate of an IEN program, or an IEN graduate student.
