CASN and CINA to revise Cultural Safety Competencies

CASN and CINA to Revise Cultural Safety CompetenciesThe Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) is collaborating with Canadian Indigenous Nurses Association (CINA) to revise cultural safety competencies published in the 2009 Cultural Safety and Cultural Competence for Nursing Education framework.

With guidance from an Advisory Committee, CINA and CASN will conduct an environmental scan to gather current references to inform the update. Virtual consultation forums will be used to gather feedback on the revised competency statements that detail the knowledge, skills, and attitudes in cultural humility and cultural safety that nurses must possess upon completion of their nursing program.
