Conferences and Workshops

CASN/ACESI (Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing/Association canadienne des écoles de sciences infirmières) convenes and sponsors a variety of conferences and workshops including:

  • Annual and Semi Annual Council meetings
  • National Nurse Educators' Conferences
  • National Nursing Research Conferences
  • National Nursing Leadership Conferences
  • Think Tanks on Accreditation
  • Strategic Planning Workshops
  • Collaborative Program Workshops

  • Forums to support different National Education Initiative

Representation and Advocacy

CASN/ACESI represents academic nursing and member schools in national for a, commissions and meetings to advocate for support to nursing education and research. CASN/ACESI is the contact point for governments, funders, international agencies, other nursing and health organizations which seek input from academic nursing and member schools on a variety of issues.
CASN/ACESI ensures representation by member schools and/or educators and researchers on various national and international bodies.

Liaison and Collaboration

CASN/ACESI liaises and collaborates with other national nursing and health organizations through joint projects, conferences, fora and campaigns to promote the interests of academic nursing and member schools.

Databases

CASN/ACESI is the premier source of current, quality nursing education and research information. We develop and maintain data collections which support the growth of nursing education and nursing research throughout Canada.

Summary information based on the databases is made available to the public and our member schools through our web site www.casn.ca. Custom reports, analyses, survey development and collection are available.

Accreditation Program

CASN/ACESI is the accrediting agency for baccalaureate programs in nursing in Canada.

CASN/ACESI accreditation

  • is a national, voluntary process aimed at encouraging excellence
  • sets forth fundamental qualities that should be common to all programs
  • identifies four criteria against which individual organizational units are assessed - relevance, accountability, relatedness, and uniqueness
  • does not prescribe a uniform model of organizational structure or design
  • does not stipulate specific curriculum content
