On November 16-18, 2009, CASN held its annual Council meetings in Gatineau, Quebec at the Hilton Lac Leamy. The Council meeting included sessions on the White Paper, the Student and Faculty Survey, Accreditation, as well as many others. Discussions were lively, and much was accomplished.   We are proud to announce that during this year’s Council meeting, staff had knitted scarves, hats, blankets, etc. and raised almost $1,500.00 for the Dr. Pat Griffin Fund of CASN.

November 16th began with the Graduate Studies and NP Educator’s Forum. Topics included Developments in Graduate Programs, PhD Education and Issues/Discussion and Curriculum models for NP competencies.

The CASN Awards Ceremony, held on November 16, 2009 brought together the recipients, nominators and many delegates from CASN members schools in an evening that celebrated  the accomplishments of the recipients (click here to see the full list of recipients) and honored the lives and contributions of Wendy McBride, past Executive Director of CASN and the inspiration for CASN’s new award - Wendy McBride Excellence Award for Accreditation Reviewer - and Elizabeth “Betty” Burcher, recipient of this year’s Award for Excellence in Nursing Education.
 

On the evening of November 17th, a celebration dinner, in recognition of the contributions of Dr. Ellen Rukholm, Past Executive Director (2007-2009) was held. Thank you to all who participated, and thank you once again Ellen for your leadership!
