Keynote Sessions Pat Griffin Scholar Annual Lecture with Dr. Florence Myrick In 2011, Dr. Florence Myrick was awarded the inaugural Pat Griffin Nursing Education Scholarship. Dr. Myrick is an outstanding nursing scholar who has dedicated much of her professional career to the promotion of excellence in nursing education. During this lecture she will be discussing “Preceptorship: Putting the Evidence into Clinical Teaching and Learning.” "Just a Nurse" by Suzanne Gordon Suzanne Gordon is an award-winning journalist and author. She has written for the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star and others. She is the author of seven books, including her new book “When Chicken Soup Isn’t Enough: Stories of Nurses Standing Up for Themselves”. Come and see her thought provoking lecture called “Just a Nurse”. "Political Advocacy– Collaboration and Coordinated Policy Making" with Dr. Suzanne Miyamoto Dr. Miyamoto is currently the Director of Government Affairs at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN); Lecturer at the University of Michigan, School of Nursing; Adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico, School of Nursing; and, Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. Dr. Miyamoto has also held policy positions at the state and federal levels with the Michigan Nurses Association; the office of United States Congressman Joseph Knollenberg; the State Commission on Patient Safety for the Michigan Health and Safety Coalition; and, the National Institutes of Health.
