| Nurse Practitioners: Optimize Patients’ Access to Health Care | | | Date: Thursday, March 29, 2012 Location: Toronto, Ontario The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is proposing to amend Regulation 965 under the Public Hospitals Act. The proposal would enable Nurse Practitioners (NP) to admit and discharge hospital in-patients. Discharging by Nurse Practitioners was implemented at hospitals on July 1, 2011, and admitting will be introduced on July 1, 2012. For Ontarians, this means increased access to care, reduced wait times and improved delivery of patient-centred care.
