| What is Accreditation? | | | CASN is a founding member of the Association of Accrediting Agencies of Canada (AAAC) whose definition of accreditation is “the process to determine and to certify the achievement and maintenance of reasonable and appropriate national standards of education for professionals" (AAAC). Accreditation standards are standards of EXCELLENCE.
Institutional accreditation evaluates the program of an institution and makes a determination for the institution as a whole, whereas specialized accreditation evaluates and accredits specialized programs of instruction within the institution (Nash & Johnson, 1982, p.1). | | |
