Madeleine Buck is a senior and highly valued member of the School’s of Nursing at McGill. She is a thoughtful and creative educator, bringing an exemplary set of values and high standards to her work. She is the Assistant Director for the B.Sc.N program and carries major teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and graduate level. Two examples of her innovative contributions are the “Ambassador Program” for undergraduate students doing electives outside of McGill and the preparation of the first comprehensive Faculty and Student Handbook.

Ms. Buck has an interest in international nursing and was instrumental in creating the link with nurses in the highlands in Tanzania to develop the care delivered in that region. She has been an active user of technology in her formal teaching and has been nursing’s voice in the development of the McGill Medical Simulation Centre. She presents at numerous scholarly and community based events both in Quebec and nationally. She has co-published and authored chapters in the textbooks “Health Assessment and Physical Examination” (2008), “Fundamentals of Canadian Nursing” (2010), and the first Canadian edition of “Brunner & Sudarth Medical Surgical Nursing” (2006).

Ms. Buck had made major contributions to CASN, serving as a reviewer and as Chair of the Bureau of Accreditation, and is Co-Chair of the Standing Committee on Education. She has made major contributions to the accreditation process of nursing education programs in Canada and to the development of GANES the Global Alliance for Nursing Education Scholarship.
