2016 Atlantic Regional Conference

atlanticregionalsWelcome to the 2016 Atlantic Regional Conference – Nurses Embracing Diversity: Welcoming the Many Faces of Healthcare! We are pleased to welcome you to Dalhousie University and the beautiful city of Halifax. In addition to our regional executive meetings, we are excited to offer a full weekend of speakers and skills-based workshop designed as an introduction to interacting with diverse clients and families. Speaker topics will include intergenerational trauma, indigenous health advocacy, reducing violence in marginalized communication, mental health, healthcare in the corrections system, and the experiences of LBBTQ+ patients in healthcare settings. We are also excited to introduce a skills based afternoon to teach communication strategies in a simulated healthcare environment. We will end the weekend with our charity banquet and auction with all proceeds going to “Women’s Wellness Within – A Partnership Serving Women in Corrections”, which is an organization founded by Dalhousie University nursing student Martha Paynter. We will be offering a social package that includes this banquet, as well as several fun events in downtown Halifax. We look forward to seeing you in October!
